Als Grundlage dafür dient das mittels 39 persönlich durchgeführter Interviews mit namhaften Kinofilmmarketingexperten der filmwirtschaftlichen Unternehmensformen Kinofilmproduktion, Kinofilmverleih – und ergänzend Agentur (Filmmarketing/Filmpresse) – erhobene quantitative und qualitative Datenmaterial. Dabei erfolgt zunächst in Teil I dieser Dissertation die Offenlegung des theoretischen Vorverständnisses zum Forschungsgegenstand. Diese theoretischen Ausarbeitungen bilden den Ausgangspunkt für die anschließende als Expertenbefragung konzipierte empirische Untersuchung, dessen Forschungsperspektive und methodische Verfahrensschritte in Teil II erläutert und dokumentiert werden. Teil III dieser Studie widmet sich der Darstellung der empirischen Ergebnisse, die vor dem Hintergrund der folgenden übergeordneten Forschungsfrage erhoben werden konnten: Wie lassen sich die realtypischen Rahmenbedingungen eines professionellen Kinofilmmarketing in Deutschland am Beispiel der Unternehmenspraxis der Verleih- und Produktionsunternehmen beschreiben und wie sollten sie aus Sicht der befragten Akteure idealtypisch sein? Die sich daraus ableitenden Forschungsschwerpunkte beziehen sich zum einen auf die Vermarktungspraxis dieser filmwirtschaftlichen Unternehmen und zum anderen auf das Verständnis eines professionellen Kinofilmmarketing ihrer Marketingakteure. Grundsätzlich signifikant für die empirische Untersuchung waren die unabhängigen Variablen „Unternehmensgrößen“, „Kulturgut vs. Wirtschaftsgut“, „Arthouse vs. Mainstream“, „Kinofilmmarketing vs. klassischer Marketinglehre“ und deren kapitelübergreifende Relation. Kontextbezogen richtete sich der wissenschaftliche Blick auf das Verständnis der Akteure zum Produkt Kinofilm als Wirtschafts- bzw. Kulturgut, auf den Stellenwert des Einsatzes der Kinofilmmarketing-Instrumente im Rahmen der Vermarktung von Arthouse- bzw. Mainstreamfilmen, auf die Aufdeckung von Problemfeldern einer professionellen Vermarktung deutscher Kinofilme und diesbezüglicher Lösungs- und Optimierungsansätze. Des Weiteren wurden die quantitative und qualitative Ausgestaltung der marketingbezogenen Zusammenarbeit von Verleih- und Produktionsunternehmen sowie die für die Kinofilmvermarktung vorhandenen finanziellen und personellen Ressourcen in den Blick genommen.
